Story behind the painting:

Just about three miles east of the small town of South Fork, Colorado, there’s a big grassy field with an old wooden cross standing right in the middle of it.

In front of the cross sit two metal chairs, and on the barbed-wire fence surrounding the field, directly in front of the cross, hangs a simple little sign that reads:

“Thanks Alfred.”

The very first time I saw it all, I didn’t know who Alfred was or what had happened there. I still don’t. But there’s something about the place that touched me, and I found myself praying for him and his family, for whatever had happened to bring that ol cross, them two chairs, and that little sign together in the middle of that field.

And every single time we pass by it while driving through, I think about ol Alfred.

Cause you just never know what somebody might be going through each and every day. We all carry things that the folks passing by might not ever see or understand.

But no matter what we’re facing, there’s one thing we can always count on:

God loves us all.

I had to recreate that special place with acrylics.

And naturally, there was only one name I could give it.
