Story behind the original painting:

Alicia and I decided to make the drive up the mountain one evening and we spent the last couple hours of daylight fly fishing Poage Lake.  We’d only been there thirty minutes before we were into some absolutely beautiful cutbow trout. It seemed like as soon as the fly touched the water, another trout was hooked up.
Just before sunset, we noticed something really big walking down to the shoreline on the opposite side of the lake. At first, we figured it was a cow elk. But when it stepped into the water and started swimming straight toward us, we realized it was a nice sized young bull moose.
He just casually swam the entire length of the lake, walked out of the water just a few yards down from where we were standing, shook himself off, and looked right at us. For a minute there, it seemed like he was deciding whether or not to come ashore and join us. After a bit, he turned around, went back into the water, and leisurely swam back to the other side.
It was one of them unforgettable moments that we will always cherish. Watching that young bull simply taking an evening swim, completely unbothered by our presence, was every bit as memorable as the trout we caught.
I knew I had to try my best and recreate the moment with acrylic.
