Story behind the painting:

While vending at the Rockport market a few weeks back, I stepped behind my booth to eat lunch. As I took a bite of my wrap, a small piece of chicken slipped out and hit the ground.

Almost immediately, a beautiful iridescent colored ol grackle dropped in beside me.
He showed no hesitation, absolutely no fear at all, hopping up right next to my feet claiming the small bite I’d dropped. On the very next bite, another piece fell into my lap. I picked it up and held it out towards the grackle with my hand. Without pause, he stepped forward and took it directly from my fingers, as comfortably as an old family pet.

Afterward, he gave a small nod, as if in thanks, then flew off to a nearby piling. I walked over to him where he just stood there looking at me. I took a quick pic, so I could hold onto that moment.

Today, I did my best to recreate that moment with acrylic.
