About the painting:
Painted June 2025. Been wanting to do this one for a while now. It might look like just another landscape painting to most folks. But what you can’t see are the memories I have tied to this special place.
Way up at 11,500’ on the edge of this beautiful mountain in the Guadalupe National Forest is the exact spot where I harvested my very first elk. From the moment I saw him, to the second the broadhead passed through him, and every moment I spent waiting afterward, mesmerized by this view, it’s all etched into my memory forever. I found him only 75 yards from where the arrow struck, just down between those pines.
And then the work began.
This is a moment I’ll cherish for the rest of my life!
