About the painting:

Painted July 2025. This painting was inspired by one of those special moments that remind us how small and connected the world really is.
While camp hosting at Crooked River State Park in Georgia, my wife and I met a wildlife photographer named Nora Niemrich. We started talking about birds we’d seen recently like some wood storks and roseate spoonbills then she mentioned a flamingo she had just photographed back in Port Aransas, Texas.
The surprise? That’s near our hometown of Corpus Christi.
It felt like one of those "small world" moments you don’t forget. I kept thinking about that lone flamingo so striking, standing out in a place it didn’t quite belong, but still somehow fitting in. That feeling inspired this painting.
