About this painting:

Kempii was inspired by my years serving in the Coast Guard while stationed in the Florida Keys, where one of the most rewarding parts of the job was helping release rehabilitated sea turtles back into the ocean. Watching them return home never got old—it was a reminder of purpose, stewardship, and doing quiet good where it matters most.
The original Kempii was later selected for the Officers as Artists exhibit at the National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington, D.C., where it was on display from September 2024 through September 2025. Being chosen for that exhibition was an incredible honor and a moment I’ll always be grateful for.
This piece carries a story of service, conservation, and the lasting impact of moments that stay with you long after the uniform comes off.
