Story behind the painting:

While driving one of the winding mountain roads in Colorado, Alicia and I came across a simple wooden cross standing alone on an overlook, surrounded by absolute stillness. The view behind it was breathtaking—one of those moments that stops you in your tracks.
I had not long before lost my mom, and something about that cross spoke to my heart in a way I can’t fully explain. It felt like a quiet invitation to pause, to grieve, to pray, and to remember. Tears were shed right there on that mountainside, but so was a sense of peace.
I knew in that moment I needed to try to recreate what we experienced—not just the image, but the feeling—with acrylics. That moment, that view, and that healing became the inspiration behind Calvary.
